The Canada Day Long weekend is just head of us and beautiful weather is in the forecast! Not sure what to do? Have no fear, there is plenty to do around the 1000 Islands! Just check out the list below! These are just some of the many activities this region has to offer.
Scenic Cruises/Boat Tours
All residents know the 1000 Islands is a gorgeous place to live. But have you ever saw all the islands close up from the St. Lawrence River? Now is your chance. Many areas in the 1000 Islands such as Brockville, Gananoque, Rockport and Kingston offer tours via boat. If you are looking for something extra unique the Smiths Falls Canoe Voyageur tour is a great place to start! The tours take place in 34-foot replica voyageur canoes with guides in voyageur costume.
Why not celebrate Canada Day with learning & experiencing some of the history? There are many sites that offer this experience such as, Cornwall Brothers Store and Museum, Brockville Museum, Fulford Place Museum, Old Stone Mill National Historic Site in Delta and Rideau Heritage Route in Smtihs Falls, just to name a few!
Want to enjoy the St. Lawrence River but don’t have the equipment to do so? No problem! Gilbert Marine in downtown Brockville has you covered with rentals for canoes, pontoons, kayaks, outboards, houseboats, fishing boats and runabouts.
For the more adventurous at heart there are plenty of outdoor sports to try! Athens offers a water ski/wakeboard school with all equipment provided. Brockville has many diving opportunities including the “Dive Brockville Adventure Center” with kayak, canoe and scuba equipment rentals, snorkeling or diving trips.
Canada Day Celebrations
Among the traditional fireworks show at Blockhouse Island there will be many other events going on as well from the 30th of June till the 3rd of July. This includes, live performances, Motocross show, a Kids Zone and much more!
